The fifty degree morning and overcast sky led to a day spent reading: bouncing from rain or shine to Powell’s to the Starbucks next-door, while h worked the artist he’ll be working for part-time during the summer months. I spent two hours in Powell’s, exploring the shelves and purchasing three books: 1) a guilty pleasure romance novel by Lori Foster, 2) the sequel comic-memoir by Allison Bechdel, 3) the 1966 “Valley of the Dolls”, a book that’s been on ‘my need to reads’ for over two years. I spent the remainder of the afternoon breezing through the romance novel at Starbucks, where h met before we purchased lettuce and cheese for dinner.
We had a simple dinner: h made tacos and I made taco-salad, but after, we steamed artichokes! Whole Foods had a 2 for 5$ deal we took advantage of, so I cut off the sharp edges and let them steam for an hour before dipping them in creamy butter. I was impressed to have remembered the steps my mom used to take when she made them for dinner when I was younger.
After dinner, we took Tucker (the dog) to the dog park a few blocks away and chased the frisbee with him until the three of us were sweating and panting with exhaustion.
